Grand Canyon North Rim to Cortez

Continuing our saga of life at 7000ft, here are some vistas headed east. Still adjusting to that altitude on hikes: WHEW!
...oh and yes: we saw the famous Four Corners (hello bonus visit to New Mexico!)

So backing up a little...yeah, it was pretty Grand

So a few days ago, Sean and I hit the Grand Canyon. We did a few quick pics between data deadzones but here is a proper post.
On day one we did the north rim and joined the throngs walking the sidewalk, and enjoyed the views, restrooms and icecream sandwiches.
Second day, after the long drive 'round, we hit the Kaibab Trail down the canyon. It was a nice, cloudy day with lots of wind so even though we started late we made it over 4 miles down and back (about 500ft).
Good times. Good times.

After a speedy transdesert drive from Santa BB and a comfortable hiatus in Phoenix, Im back on the road, headed north, with Sean. So far? Redlands and Sodoma, Flagstaff and ...oh yes, burgers.

Through the Redwoods and Highway 101 we made it to Napa today!

Southern Oregon to Crescent City CALIFORNIA

Waterfalls to Redwoods. Oh yeah! We're camping at an awesome private campground near the coast. $15, free wood and no burn ban. Bring it on. WE LOVE CAMPING! :)

Ashland!

Day 3 saw us in Ashland. Saw no shows at the Shakespeare festival but we did buy some sweet hats.

Adventure begins!

Day one of the roadtrip. Jade and I set out from Corvallis armed with a baguette, chorizo, bleu cheese and a car full of camping gear. We set out south, heading for Crater Lake National Park.

Crater lake was gorgeous and COLD. As you can see, in mid June snow is definitely still part of the landscape. We disperse camped below the snowline in the national forest.

I bought my first cast iron pan (8", $10) at a small junk shop in the Cascades. So excited. Chorizo and egs this morning were the best ever!

Testing the Blogger/FB link

I thought it would be easy peasy to link Blogger up with FB (because that's where most of you are checking regularly, let's face it), but it's not as simple as I thought! I am using a widget called If This Then That (IFTTT) to post to FB. Let's hope it works! Looks like so far though.

 I will head from Corvallis to Crater Lake National Park.
